Drivers for IT change may be external or internal. Both require an organisation to respond with a clear strategy for change.

JGA identifies and assesses key drivers for IT change. This allows IT and business strategies to be correctly aligned. The correct organsiational response to change drivers can be formulated with the fully integrated appraoch offered by JGA, by taking into account key factors and their interalationship.

External Change Drivers

The various changes in the external market place present challenges and opportunities for the IT organisation. These changes include:

  • The emergence of the Shared Services model within major businesses.
  • Globalisation of business and IT markets.
  • Outsource and Off-shore service providers with increasingly attractive propositions.
  • Increasing scrutiny on Governance and Risk Management (Basel II, SOX, MiFID).
  • Benchmarking, and moves towards standard IT process architectures.
  • Downward technology pricing trends coupled with increasing TCO of IT.

Internal Change Drivers

Organisations are making increased demands on their IT functions due to a range of internal drivers:

  • Business growth through mergers, acquisitions and alliances.
  • Strategic change agendas and new business operating models.
  • The perceived need for better responsiveness and value for money from IT.

Organisational Response

Both internal and external drivers for change must be considered in the context of the wider business strategy when implementing IT change within the organisation. Such an approach informs the organisational response.
